Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe – A Warm Welcome

Your family adventure begins the moment you land at Entebbe International Airport. An Africa Exotic Safaris representative will greet you with a smile and help the children settle into the private safari vehicle. You will be transferred to a family friendly lodge on the shores of Lake Victoria. After checking in, let the kids run free in the gardens or take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool. In the late afternoon, take a short guided nature walk along the lake shore where you can spot monitor lizards, kingfishers, and playful vervet monkeys. Day 2: Entebbe to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Meeting Gentle Giants

After a hearty breakfast, you will drive north for approximately three hours to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The drive is comfortable with a rest stop halfway where children can stretch their legs. Upon arrival, you will meet your armed ranger who will lead your family on a walking safari to find the southern white rhinos. Walking allows children to see tracks, dung, and learn how rhinos live. You will approach a rhino family from a safe distance, guided by the ranger. The children will be amazed at how large these animals are. After the walk, enjoy a picnic lunch at the sanctuary. In the afternoon, you can take a short canoe ride on the sanctuary’s small lake or visit the shoebill stork viewing platform. Then, you will drive to Murchison Falls National Park, arriving at your family lodge in the late afternoon. The lodge has a swimming pool and spacious family tents or rooms. Day 3: Murchison Falls – Game Drive and Launch Cruise

Wake early for a sunrise game drive on the northern banks of the Nile. The drive lasts about three hours, ideal for young attention spans. Your guide will search for elephants, giraffes, lions, hartebeests, and buffalo. Children will love counting the different animals they see and checking them off in their activity booklets. After checking in, take a gentle guided walk along the forest edge where you may spot red colobus monkeys and black and white colobus monkeys. Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking and Community Visit

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and a swim. In the afternoon, you will visit a nearby community project where a local family will welcome you. Day 7: Queen Elizabeth – Private Boat Cruise on the Kazinga Channel

Your family will have the boat to yourselves, with a captain and guide. The cruise lasts about two hours, perfect for children. Glide through the channel, getting within meters of hundreds of hippos, crocodiles, and elephants drinking at the water’s edge. Fish eagles soar overhead and may dive for fish. The children will love counting the hippos. After the cruise, you will enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot overlooking the channel. Day 8: Queen Elizabeth to Lake Bunyonyi – Relaxation and Canoeing
After breakfast, you will drive south to Lake Bunyonyi, one of the most beautiful lakes in Africa. The journey takes approximately three hours through the lush Kigezi Highlands. You will arrive at your family friendly lodge perched on the hillside overlooking the lake. The lodge has family rooms, a swimming pool, and direct access to the water. After lunch, you will take a guided canoe ride on the lake. The water is bilharzia free, so children can safely swim. Your guide will paddle you to Punishment Island, where unmarried pregnant girls were abandoned in the old days, and then to a small island where you can have a picnic. The children will love the adventure of being on a traditional dugout canoe. Return to the lodge as the sun sets. Dinner is served on the terrace with views of the lake.

Day 9: Lake Bunyonyi – Nature Walk and Coffee Plantation

Look for birds, butterflies, and small mammals. You will also visit a coffee plantation where a local farmer will show your family how coffee is grown, harvested, dried, roasted, and ground. Children can help pick ripe coffee cherries and taste the final product. After a picnic lunch, the afternoon is free for swimming, kayaking, or simply relaxing. You will stop for lunch at the Equator crossing point in Kayabwe, where the family can stand with one foot in each hemisphere. A local guide will perform the water experiment showing how the Coriolis effect works, and children can receive a certificate. Continue to Entebbe. Your Africa Exotic Safaris guide will transfer you to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight. As you check in, the children will proudly show you their completed safari activity booklets filled with drawings of rhinos, chimpanzees, hippos, and the mighty Nile.
